ShipWorks
ShipWorks is desktop shipping software that runs on a computer at your dealership. It downloads your eBay and Amazon orders from PSS, you print labels with your own carrier accounts, and the tracking flows back to PSS and on to the marketplace automatically.

What you'll learn
- How orders and tracking move between PSS and ShipWorks
- How to connect ShipWorks
- Which optional settings to use
How it works
- An order comes into PSS from eBay, Amazon or your webstore.
- ShipWorks checks PSS for new and changed orders and downloads them.
- You print labels in ShipWorks with your own FedEx, UPS or USPS accounts.
- ShipWorks sends the tracking number back to PSS and marks the order Fulfilled.
- PSS sends the tracking to the marketplace, usually within minutes, and the buyer is notified.
📌 Key Point: You only need one ShipWorks license, bought through ShipWorks, for PSS. It covers orders from every marketplace connected to your PSS account.
Connect ShipWorks
Step 1: Turn on the ShipWorks module in PSS
- Go to Settings > Module Settings > ShipWorks.
- Check Enable Module.
- Under Authentication, create a username and password just for ShipWorks.
- Save.
⚠️ Warning: This username and password aren't your PSS login. They're a separate pair just for the ShipWorks connection. Write them down, because you'll need them in Step 3. They're case-sensitive.
Step 2: Copy your module URL
PSS shows your module URL once the module is on. It looks like this, with your own dealership name:
https://yourdealership.app.powersportsupport.com/ship_works.xml
Step 3: Add PSS as a store in ShipWorks
- Open ShipWorks on your shipping computer.
- Go to Manage > Stores and click Add Store.
- Choose Generic Module as the store type.
- Paste your module URL, then enter the username and password from Step 1.
- Finish the remaining prompts.
Step 4: Set up your carriers in ShipWorks
In ShipWorks, go to Manage > Shipping Settings and add your FedEx, UPS and USPS accounts. Carriers and rates are managed entirely in ShipWorks, not in PSS.

Optional settings
On the ShipWorks settings page in PSS:
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Order Custom Fields | Send up to 5 extra fields with each order: Marketplace Name, Marketplace Order ID or Marketplace User ID |
| Disable Order Prefixing | Removes the marketplace name from the front of order numbers, as in Ebay_LMS-12345 |
| Disable Order Postfixing | Removes the marketplace order ID from the end of order numbers, as in 12345_123000111-2111999 |
💡 Pro Tip: Leave prefixing on. It shows at a glance whether each order came from eBay or Amazon. Use one shipping tool at a time, too: running ShipWorks and ShippingEasy together can cause duplicate shipments.
How ShipWorks downloads orders
- ShipWorks checks PSS regularly for orders that are new or have changed, up to 10 at a time.
- Once downloaded, an order isn't sent again unless it changes.
- To download right away, click Download in ShipWorks.
Troubleshooting
| What you see | Likely cause | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| ShipWorks can't connect | Wrong module URL | Check the URL matches your dealership's subdomain exactly |
| Incorrect username or password | Credentials don't match | Re-enter the ShipWorks credentials from Settings > ShipWorks. They're case-sensitive. |
| "ShipWorks is not enabled for this account" | The module is off | Check Enable Module in Settings > ShipWorks |
| No orders in ShipWorks | No new orders, or orders missing a customer name | Confirm there are undownloaded orders in PSS with a buyer name |
| Tracking not reaching PSS | The shipment didn't upload from ShipWorks | Check the order status in ShipWorks, then upload the shipment again |
| Duplicate orders | An order changed after it was downloaded | This is normal. ShipWorks matches by order number. If duplicates persist, check your prefix and postfix settings. |
| Changed your ShipWorks password in PSS and lost the connection | ShipWorks still has the old one | Edit the store in ShipWorks under Manage > Stores and enter the new password |
