Category Brand Exclusion

Use this when you want to hide a brand from a specific category only. The brand will still appear in other categories and in general search results — it just won't show up in the selected category or any of its subcategories.

Example: You sell Brand X tires and Brand X helmets. You want to exclude Brand X from your "Helmets" category but keep them visible in "Tires." A category brand exclusion handles this.

How to Get There

  1. From the main menu, go to Webstore
  2. Click Categories
  3. Find the category you want to manage
  4. Click the Brand Exclusions option for that category

Adding a Category Exclusion

  1. In the dialog that opens, select a Catalog from the dropdown (e.g., Aftermarket, Private)
  2. Start typing a brand name in the Manufacturers search box
  3. Select the brand from the dropdown suggestions
  4. Click the + button to add it to the exclusion list
  5. The brand will appear in the table below showing the catalog and manufacturer name
  6. Repeat for any additional brands you want to exclude from this category
  7. Click Save

Removing a Category Exclusion

  1. Open the Brand Exclusions dialog for the category
  2. Find the brand in the exclusion table
  3. Click the red trash icon next to it
  4. Click Save

How Category Inheritance Works

Category exclusions flow downward through your category tree. If you exclude a brand from a parent category, that brand is also excluded from all of its subcategories.

Example:

Parts & Accessories <-- Exclude Brand X here
Engine <-- Brand X is also excluded here
Pistons <-- Brand X is also excluded here
Gaskets <-- Brand X is also excluded here
Suspension <-- Brand X is also excluded here

You do not need to add the exclusion to each subcategory individually. Setting it on the parent is enough.

Important Notes

  • Category exclusions only affect the selected category and its subcategories — the brand still appears everywhere else on your webstore
  • This is useful when a brand's products are miscategorized or when you only want to feature certain brands in specific sections of your store
  • Category exclusions and global exclusions work independently. If a brand is globally excluded, it won't appear anywhere regardless of category exclusion settings
