Stock Settings FAQ
Q: I changed the setting but products are still showing/hiding the old way. Why?
Stock updates are processed once per hour between 6:00 AM and 11:00 PM. After changing the setting, allow up to one hour for the webstore to fully reflect the change.
Q: I set it to "Shelf & Distributor Quantities" but some products with distributor stock aren't showing. Why?
Distributor stock is only counted if the feed data has been updated within the last 3 days. If a distributor's feed hasn't reported recent data for a product, that product's distributor stock won't be included.
Q: What happens if I set it to "Disabled" after having it enabled?
All products will become visible on the webstore again after the next hourly update. No data is lost — the setting only controls what is displayed.
Q: Does this affect products that have no inventory data at all?
Yes. If In-Stock Only is enabled, products with no inventory data from either source (shelf or distributor) will be hidden from the webstore.
Q: Will customers see an "out of stock" message?
No. Out-of-stock products are completely hidden from the webstore. Customers will not see the product at all — it simply won't appear in categories, search, or direct navigation.
Q: Does this work with OEM products?
OEM products are only evaluated using shelf quantities (similar to Private Label). Distributor feeds do not apply to OEM products.
Q: I have Allow Backorders enabled. Does In-Stock Only still matter?
No. Allow Backorders overrides all inventory rules, including In-Stock Only. All products will appear as in-stock regardless of your In-Stock Only setting.
Q: Can customers still access a hidden product via a direct URL?
No. If a product is marked out of stock in the search index, it will not be displayed even if a customer has a direct link to the product page.
