Getting Started with Lightspeed
The Lightspeed integration connects your Ecommerce webstore to the Lightspeed DMS (Dealer Management System) used by powersports, marine, and outdoor power equipment dealerships. It enables two key capabilities:
- Web Order Download — When a customer places an order on your webstore, the order is automatically sent to Lightspeed so your team can process, fulfill, and ship it from within the DMS.
- Shelf Inventory Sync — Your parts and accessories inventory levels from Lightspeed are automatically pulled into Ecommerce to keep your webstore quantities up to date.
These are two separate modules that can be enabled independently. You can use one, both, or neither depending on your dealership's needs.
What You Need Before You Start
Before configuring the Lightspeed integration, gather the following from your Lightspeed DMS account:
For Web Orders Module
- Lightspeed Web Commerce Username — The username configured in Lightspeed for web commerce access
- Lightspeed Web Commerce Password — The corresponding password
These credentials are set up inside Lightspeed under the Web Commerce configuration. They allow Lightspeed to authenticate when it contacts Ecommerce to download orders.
For 3PA / Data Warehouse (Inventory Sync)
- 3PA Username — Your Lightspeed Third-Party Access username
- 3PA Password — Your corresponding 3PA password
- 3PA Dealer ID — Your unique dealer identifier in Lightspeed's system
These credentials allow Ecommerce to connect to Lightspeed's data warehouse API and pull your parts inventory data.
For Supplier Code Mapping
- A list of your Lightspeed supplier codes — These are the short codes Lightspeed uses to identify each supplier/vendor (e.g., "KA" for Kawasaki). You can find these in Lightspeed under your parts supplier/vendor configuration.
- Knowledge of which Ecommerce catalog and manufacturer/distributor each supplier code corresponds to — You'll need to map each Lightspeed code to the correct Ecommerce catalog (Aftermarket, OEM, or Private Label) and the specific manufacturer or distributor.
Understanding the Two Modules
| Module | What It Does | Direction | How Often |
|---|---|---|---|
| Web Orders Module | Sends webstore orders to Lightspeed for fulfillment | Ecommerce → Lightspeed | On demand (Lightspeed polls for new orders) |
| 3PA / Data Warehouse | Pulls shelf inventory quantities from Lightspeed into Ecommerce | Lightspeed → Ecommerce | Automatically every 6 hours (configurable) |
You can enable either module independently. The Web Orders Module handles order flow. The 3PA module handles inventory flow.
