Overrides: Price, Title, Description & Images

Catalog data comes from manufacturers and distributors, and sometimes you'll want your listings to say something different. Overrides replace a piece of catalog data with your own version, such as a better image, your own description or a specific price. They apply only to your account, never to other dealers.

What you'll learn

  • What you can override, and where
  • How to override prices, titles, descriptions, images and attributes
  • Which version wins when more than one is set

What you can override

What Applies to Where
Price One distributor SKU, on one marketplace Override Management Center
Title and subtitle One listing eBay Listing Management
Description One product, or a whole product group Override Management Center
Image One product Override Management Center, or in bulk by CSV
Size, color, option One product Override Management Center

Open the Override Management Center

  1. Go to Catalogs > Aftermarket.
  2. Find the product with the filters or search.
  3. Click its MPN (the blue link).

This page shows everything PSS knows about the product: images, group and product descriptions, size, color and option, every distributor that carries it with their SKU and MSRP, price overrides and shelf inventory.

Override a price

  1. In the Override Management Center, go to Price Overrides.
  2. Find the distributor SKU and enter your price for eBay.
  3. Click Save.

A price override beats your Pricing Rules for that SKU on that marketplace.

⚠️ Warning: A price override stays fixed. It won't follow MSRP changes, so when a brand raises prices, an old override can put you below MAP. Use overrides sparingly and review them regularly. Use Pricing Rules for anything brand-wide.

Override a title or subtitle

Titles are set per listing. In eBay Listing Management, click a listing's title or subtitle to edit it inline. To change titles across many listings, change the title hash instead. See Optimizing Titles & Descriptions.

Override a description

Level Affects Best for
Product group Every product in the group Hard parts and similar products where one description fits all
Product One product Variations that need their own wording, like left-hand vs. right-hand
  1. In the Override Management Center, enter your text in the Product Group Description Override or Product Description Override field.
  2. Click Save.

📌 Key Point: A product-level override always wins over a group-level one. Basic HTML (bold, lists, line breaks) works, but plain text is fine too. Description overrides can't be uploaded by CSV.

Override an image

  • One product: in the Product Image section, choose Upload File or Upload URL, then click Save. To go back to the catalog image, click Remove Existing Override.
  • Many products: in the File Center, use Import/Export Image Overrides. Download the template, add one row per MPN with an image URL, and upload it. Large files are processed automatically.

💡 Pro Tip: If an image URL ever stops working, the listing shows a broken image. If you use hosted URLs, check them now and then, or upload the file directly instead.

Override size, color or option

In the Product Details section, edit the values and click Save. For example, change a color from "BLK" to "Black" so it reads cleanly on eBay.

Which version wins

Data Order (first one set wins)
Description Product override, then group override, then catalog
Image Your override, then catalog
Size, color, option Your override, then catalog
Price Shelf price, then price override, then Pricing Rule, then MSRP

Overrides reach eBay in the next daily revision feed, usually within 24 hours. Removing an override puts the catalog version back.
