How eBay Inventory & Pricing Updates Work
PSS doesn't change eBay in real time. It sends changes in scheduled daily batches called feeds. Knowing when each feed runs tells you when a change will show up on eBay, and saves you from chasing changes that just haven't gone out yet.
🎥 Insert video here: what happens between a change in PSS and that change showing up on eBay.
What you'll learn
- When new listings and changes reach eBay
- How PSS turns distributor stock and prices into what buyers see
- What to do when a change hasn't shown up
The daily feeds
| Feed | Runs (daily) | What it sends | Live on eBay |
|---|---|---|---|
| Creation | About 2:00 PM Pacific / 5:00 PM Eastern | New listings, plus failed or offline listings you've fixed | Usually by about 5:00 PM Pacific / 8:00 PM Eastern |
| Revision | About 7:00 AM Pacific / 10:00 AM Eastern | Changes to price, quantity, title, description and images on live listings | Within 6–10 hours |
| Active Inventory Report | Periodically | Pulls a snapshot from eBay to catch anything out of sync, like a listing eBay ended on its own | Not applicable |
📌 Key Point: Plan on 12–24 hours from making a change in PSS to seeing it fully live on eBay. A listing you create at 3:00 PM Pacific misses that day's creation feed and goes out the next afternoon.
Feeds run once a day because most distributors only update their inventory files once a day. Running more often wouldn't make your data any fresher. Only listings that actually changed are included in the revision feed.
How stock and prices get to eBay
Every day, PSS pulls stock and prices from your distributors. Then it runs them through your rules before anything reaches eBay:
- Inventory Rules pick the source and lead time for each product.
- Pricing Rules and any overrides set the price.
- Your eBay Settings apply the final limits: the Inventory Ceiling caps the quantity shown, the Buffer takes low-stock listings offline, the Lead Time Ceiling and Floor bound handling time, and the Min and Max Price Thresholds block bad prices.
- The revision feed sends the result to eBay.
💡 Pro Tip: If you use a separate eBay repricing tool, turn on Disable Pricing in eBay Settings. PSS keeps managing stock, titles and descriptions, and leaves prices to your repricer.
When a change hasn't shown up
- Check the timing. Has the next feed actually run? Use the table above.
- Check the listing status in Listing Management. Statuses like OFFLINE, FAILED or PENDING usually explain the delay. See Listing Statuses, Errors, and Fixes.
- Still stuck after the feed has run? Contact support.
⚠️ Warning: If an urgent fix can't wait for the next feed, like a pricing error on a popular listing, ask support for an on-demand feed. These are run by hand, so save them for real emergencies.
