Listing Statuses, Errors, and Fixes
Every PSS eBay listing has a status that tells you where it stands: live, in progress, or stuck on something that needs you. This is your reference for every status and how to fix each error.
🎥 Insert video here: finding and fixing listing errors.
What you'll learn
- What each status means
- How to fix every error status
- Where to find eBay's exact error message
💡 Pro Tip: The fastest way to diagnose any error is the listing preview in Listing Management. It shows eBay's exact creation or revision response. If many listings share the same error, the cause is almost always their shared template, so fix the template once and they'll all recover on the next feed.
Live and in-progress statuses
| Status | What it means | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Online | Live on eBay and kept up to date by PSS | Nothing |
| Pending: Creation | Queued for the next creation feed | Nothing. Wait for the feed. |
| Pending: Confirmation | Sent to eBay, waiting for its response | Nothing. It usually clears in minutes. |
| Processing: Revision | An update is being applied to a live listing | Nothing |
| Processing Recreation: Ending / Creating | The listing is being ended and recreated, because a change couldn't be made with a simple revision | Nothing. It comes back as a new listing. |
| Requires Repost | A big change, like a new category or switching to a variation listing, needs a recreation | Nothing. It's queued to happen automatically. |
⚠️ Warning: If a listing stays in any Pending or Processing status for more than 24 hours, something is stuck. Contact support.
📌 Key Point: Recreated and reposted listings get a new eBay Item ID. If you hand-pick listings for Promoted Listings campaigns, see eBay Promoted Listings.
Offline statuses
| Status | What it means | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Disabled | You paused it | Re-enable it when you're ready. It goes out in the next creation feed. |
| Disabled by eBay | eBay removed it for a policy violation, a VeRO (rights owner) takedown or another compliance issue | Check Seller Hub messages for the reason and resolve it with eBay. Then re-enable it in PSS. PSS can't override eBay. |
Error statuses
| Status | Cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| Listing Issue: Duplicate Title | Another of your listings has the same title | Edit the title to add MPN, size or color, or add a subtitle. See Optimizing Titles & Descriptions. |
| Listing Issue: Title Length | The title is over eBay's 80-character limit | Shorten the title hash, or edit the title inline |
| Listing Issue: Request Error | eBay rejected the listing. This is a catch-all. | Read eBay's response in the listing preview (common causes below) |
| Product Issue: Missing Image | No images in the catalog | Add an image override, or turn on Fallback Image in eBay Settings |
| Product Issue: Out of Stock | Stock dropped below your Marketplace Inventory Buffer | It clears on its own when stock returns. If stock looks wrong, run Calculate Inventory. See Inventory Rules. |
| Product Issue: Pricing | The price is outside your Min or Max Price Threshold | If the price is wrong, fix it with Pricing Rules or an override. If it's right, adjust the threshold. |
| Failed Revision | eBay rejected an update to a live listing. The old version may still be live. | Read eBay's revision response, fix the template or listing, and it resends in the next revision feed |
Common causes of Request Errors and Failed Revisions
- Shipping setup problems, like a package weight over a carrier's limit, or a surcharge that doesn't allow packages over 4 lbs
- A subtitle over 55 characters
- A category that doesn't allow variation listings
- Missing required item specifics for the category
- An eBay policy change that broke a setup that used to work
Once you fix the cause, there's no need to resubmit each listing. PSS picks them up in the next feed.
