Getting Started with eBay
Before PSS can list anything, you need the right eBay account in place. This article covers what eBay requires, which store tier to pick, and the order to work through the rest of the eBay category.
🎥 Insert video here: a 2-minute tour of getting your eBay account ready for PSS.
What you'll learn
- What eBay account and store PSS needs
- Which eBay Store tier makes sense for your catalog
- The order to set up eBay in PSS
What you need from eBay
- An eBay Store subscription on the US site (eBay.com)
- eBay Motors eligibility. PSS lists into the eBay Motors category structure, so your account must be able to list there.
- A business account you control. This is the account PSS will manage, so use the same one for your store and your PSS connection.
Choose your store tier
Any eBay Store works, but most powersports dealers should start at Premium or Anchor.
| Why a higher tier | What it means for you |
|---|---|
| Higher listing allowances | Dealers carry hundreds or thousands of SKUs. Lower tiers run out of free listings fast, and overages add up. |
| Lower final value fees | eBay takes a smaller percentage of each sale. |
| More business tools | Additional promotion and reporting features in Seller Hub. |
📌 Key Point: PSS's eBay VIP partnership waives insertion fees and includes a free Anchor Store for approved dealers. If you've signed up for VIP, start that application now. See eBay VIP.
Set up your eBay Store
- Sign in to your eBay account.
- Go to Seller Hub > Marketing > Subscriptions.
- Choose your store tier and complete the subscription.
- Confirm the store is on eBay.com and that you can list in eBay Motors categories.
You can change tiers later in Seller Hub, but starting at the right level avoids surprise fees in your first month.
Your eBay setup order
Work through the rest of this category in order. Each step depends on the one before it.
- Connecting eBay: give PSS access to your eBay account
- Configuring eBay Settings: inventory, pricing, tax and policy rules for eBay
- Creating and Managing Listing Templates: category, description and returns for each group of products
- eBay Shipping Setup: how you'll charge for shipping
- Creating eBay Listings: put products from your catalog on eBay
⚠️ Warning: Finish Inventory Rules and Pricing Rules before you create listings. Listings built before those are set can go live with no stock or at full MSRP.
