eBay FAQ

Quick answers to the questions dealers ask most about selling on eBay with PSS. Each answer links to the full article.

Getting started

How long does it take to get set up?

Most dealers are up and running within a few business days. The usual wait is the first daily creation feed after setup. See Getting Started with eBay.

What eBay Store do I need?

An eBay Store on eBay.com, able to list in eBay Motors. Premium or Anchor is best for most dealers. See Getting Started with eBay.

What is eBay VIP?

PSS's partnership with eBay that waives insertion fees and includes a free Anchor Store for approved dealers. See eBay VIP.

Do I need eBay Business Policies?

No. Turn them off. PSS manages shipping, returns and payment through your listing templates, and Business Policies conflict with it. See eBay Shipping Setup.

My listings stopped syncing. Is my connection broken?

Possibly. Renew it under Settings > eBay > Grant Access, then click Save. See Connecting eBay.

Listings

When will my new listings show up on eBay?

The creation feed runs daily at about 2:00 PM Pacific, and listings are usually live by 5:00 PM Pacific. Anything created after the feed waits for the next day. See How eBay Inventory & Pricing Updates Work.

My listings still show Offline. Why?

Usually they're waiting for the next creation feed. If a feed has already run, check the status for an error. See Listing Statuses, Errors, and Fixes.

Can I edit listings directly on eBay?

No. PSS overwrites eBay with its own data in every daily revision feed. Always edit in PSS. See Managing Listings.

How many images can a listing have?

Up to 12. PSS sends every catalog image available, up to that limit. eBay requires at least 500 pixels on the longest side, no watermarks and a clean background. To replace an image, see Overrides.

Can I list from more than one catalog?

Yes: Aftermarket, OEM and Private. Each listing uses its own template, so you can set different shipping and categories for each. See Creating eBay Listings.

Can I sell kits or combos?

Yes, through the Private catalog. PSS doesn't track each part inside a kit, though, so watch component stock closely. See Creating eBay Listings.

Why don't some listings have a fitment table?

That product doesn't have an EPID in eBay's catalog yet. The listing still sells, and fitment may appear after a future update. See EPIDs & Parts Compatibility.

Inventory and pricing

How often do stock and prices update on eBay?

Once a day, in the revision feed at about 7:00 AM Pacific. Allow 6–10 hours for changes to fully reach eBay. See How eBay Inventory & Pricing Updates Work.

Why is my listing Out of Stock when the distributor has it?

Usually stock fell below your Marketplace Inventory Buffer, a warehouse is excluded, or the distributor's data is stale. Run Calculate Inventory on the product. See Inventory Rules & Lead Times.

What should I set the Inventory Ceiling and Buffer to?

For most dealers, a ceiling of 4–10 and a buffer of 4–7. See Configuring eBay Settings.

My listing shows the wrong price. What do I check?

Run Calculate Price on the product to see which pricing layer set the price: a shelf price, an override, a Pricing Rule or MSRP. Then check your Min and Max Price Thresholds. See Pricing Rules.

I use a separate repricing tool. Will PSS overwrite my prices?

Yes, unless you turn on Disable Pricing in eBay Settings. PSS then leaves prices alone and keeps managing everything else. See Configuring eBay Settings.

Selling and growing

Does PSS manage Promoted Listings?

No. You run campaigns in eBay Seller Hub. Use rule-based campaigns so listings PSS creates are promoted automatically. See eBay Promoted Listings.

Where do my eBay payments go?

Straight to your bank account on eBay's payout schedule. PSS never handles your money. You can see payouts in Seller Hub under Payments.

Do I need to set up sales tax?

Usually not. eBay collects and remits sales tax in most US states. Ask your accountant about anything specific to your business. See Configuring eBay Settings.

A buyer left negative feedback because of bad product data. What do I do?

Respond quickly, make it right, ask eBay to remove the feedback and report the data. See Handling Negative Feedback from Data Issues.

Still have questions?
